RESULTS OF THE TONY PORTER MEMORIAL MATCH  ON 9 SEPTEMBER 2023 AT HALNABY LAKE
Only 4 junior anglers managed to find the time to fish the last match in the series - I guess that birthday parties, the re-start of rugby and football clubs, and back-to-school pressures interfered.
However the match was still a success, particularly for Ted Wood who caught 2 carp from peg 5. He fished banded pink wafter with method feeder, close in to the fallen tree to the right of the peg (he had used the same bait on peg 16 earlier in the week and caught 8 carp from there). The two carp weighed 13lbs 10ozs and 11lbs 2 ozs. (the larger one weighed 14lbs 2 ozs when Ted caught it on 9 June when it was probably heavy with spawning).
Carp

he other 3 competitors (who don't have the same experience as Ted) focused their efforts on catching as many roach and perch as they could.
Henry Burns was second with 7lbs 4ozs from peg 12, including the heaviest roach and perch of the day, both weighing in at 3.5ozs.
H

Dexter Cairns wasn't far behind him, with more fish in the next than Henry but he only managed to put 6lbs 11ozs on the scales from peg 10.
D
Jake Enderwick had 3lbs 6ozs from peg 16, which included the only bream of the day. At only 1.5oz it was the smallest ever bream to win the prize for the "heaviest bream of the day", so it still brought a big smile to his face.
